I ended up staying in the car and we made it home last night, so it’s time for me to do the belated Thanksgiving update.

Unfortunately I didn’t really get the camera out because I was too busy preparing an apron worthy, kick-ass green bean casserole, as well as helping my mom with all the preparation. There were a few captures, however, and here is the gist of our long weekend in bullets:

1. We dined alfresco in the desert of Palm Springs

2. It was an early Christmas miracle, as Washington State came back to beat Washington in the Apple Cup. One of the best games I’ve seen in years. Go Cougs!

3. No, you listened to the Wham!Last Christmas" Pandora station when you were cooking and helping your mom decorate her house! Don’t judge, you know you like it.

4. Our dog will do anything for turkey.

5. Jude had some quality time with Nana. My favorite moment was watching them tickle the ivories together.

6. He was completely enthraled with the “Miss Miss” tree, especially the train ornament. Note to self: Get Jude a train ornament.

Hope you are all having a fabulous week!

The nails on the chalkboard of our marriage…

Currently on the road trip home listening to the hubby spit his sunflower seed shells against the inside of a fast food cup. I’ve known about his habit since the late 90’s and have stuck around this long, but today I am considering jumping out of this car and making a run for it.

Sprinkle Explosion

My little cookie monster couldn’t get enough of the decorating options at a friend’s cookie party. He figured out he could actually dip his frosted cookie right into the bowl of sprinkles to maximize his sugar intake. This proves that he could only be my child.

On a related note, it is probably not the best idea to attend a cookie party right before a 2.5 hour road trip.

Update: He slept for a majority of our drive. I might be a genius.

Toddler Problems

I had a pretty sad boy on my hands this morning. He didn’t get to go to the zoo (that I had been talking up since last night) because the car wouldn’t start. His consolation prize was the neighborhood playground. He’s such a good little guy. Hopefully all will be fixed by tomorrow so we can give it another whirl before we head to Nana’s for the long weekend.

Bambinos and Bunny was launched by two mamas back in October and I have been obsessed with this shirt since I saw it on Instagram. The wild print fits Jude’s unruly hair/newly mischievous personality, and the cuffed sleeves and asymmetrical hem on the back are a fun touch. These super talented moms do the designing and all their clothes are made in the U.S. of A.

Today I am thinking about veterans past and present, but my great-great grandfather James Jefferson is at the forefront of my mind. He fought for the Union in the Missouri Irish Brigade during the Civil War. I don’t know much about the time he served, but I do know he survived being a POW and I am very proud to have this steely eyed man in my lineage.
I also want to say thank you to my Grandpa Al who fought in the Korean War, as well as the hubby’s Grandpa Mark who served in the Navy during WWII. Happy Veteran’s Day to all who have served and thank you, you are appreciated.

Sunday Sounds-

Local Natives are another band I fell in love with when I was pregnant with the little guy. Can’t wait for their sophomore album which is being released in January. Hope you’re all having a relaxing Sunday!

Since the hubby is traveling again Jude and I are back to our usual ways of roaming the city. This morning we hopped on the trolley and rode down to the park so we could burn some energy before the rain (YAY!). Next we crossed the street to the New Children’s Museum to check out the current exhibit, Trash. It is better than it sounds. I was excited to see that some of the art was from Brazilian artist Vik Muniz, who is in a beautiful documentary called Waste Land. Score for mama!

I love taking Jude here. This place never gets old because as he grows he finds new ways to explore, but his favorite thing is and has always been pushing the button for a ride on the glass elevator.

The most important thing in my world.

The hubby travels quite a bit but I never really talk about what it is he does. In a nut shell, he has been working on a couple of documentary films, and I wanted to share a recent three minute video he made with some footage from an interview with Macklemore and Marco Collins. It is in support of Referendum 74 for marriage equality in Washington State. All my friends in WA, vote yes on Ref. 74!

For the hubby’s birthday we wandered down to our favorite dessert joint to peruse the selection. Jude and I were licking our lips at all the possibilities, and we ended up landing on the Dulce de Leche Cheesecake. It is as amazing as it sounds, and if you are ever in our neck of the woods you have to check this place out.

Flash.WAY.back Friday

or… 27 years ago today the hubby turned five!

Happy Birthday Superman, we are so very lucky to have you.

Love-

Angela and Jude

This little skeleton was feeling so icky yesterday he never even got out of our bed.
The plan was to get on his lion costume and head to the zoo in the morning, then trick or treat with his neighborhood buddies in the evening. Broke my heart because he has been so excited for “How wee ween”. When he woke from his nap, he started crying when he saw all the kids trick-or-treating below. I know this is the first of many disappointments (hopefully not too many) and it is really hard to see as a parent.
On the bright side he did perk up after his first cup of hot chocolate and It’s the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown, and he is almost back to normal today.
